His treatment plans centers on exercise and functional restoration, but he also incorporates adjunctive options including manipulation, injection therapy, oral medication, acupuncture, massage, etc. to meet the desired goal. He feels as though the patient has to be an active participant in their care and part of the solution for management. Dr. Meighen grew up in Northeast Ohio, instilling him with a strong work ethic and focus, and fostered his passion for exercise and health.

He graduated from the University of Toledo with a BA in Biology. During this time, he spent time studying in Manchester, England which provided him insight into an alternative culture and health care system. He then enrolled at the University of Akron where he completed a year of Master’s studies in Sports Medicine. He next graduated from the University of Cincinnati with his medical degree with a goal of working in the orthopedic and musculoskeletal field. To meet these ends, he completed his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at Carolinas Medical Center/Charlotte Rehabilitation in Charlotte, NC. He then moved on to the University of Florida where he completed a fellowship in sports, spine, and occupational rehabilitation medicine under the tutelage of James Atchison, DO.

Dr. Meighen in the past has worked for a large multispecialty orthopedic group in North Carolina which provided him with valuable insights into the management of musculoskeletal problems. He has a passion for the field, and he uses a multimodal approach employing new and cutting edge techniques to solve pain problems. He is well versed in the following interventions to help diagnose and treat musculoskeletal disorders: fluoroscopically guided spine and joint procedures, diagnostic and interventional ultrasound, electrodiagnostics (EMG/NCS), osteopathic manipulation, and regenerative procedures including prolotherapy, platelet rich plasma (PRP), and stem cells. He next completed a year of graduate studies in Sports Medicine at the University of Akron working primarily with the department of dance. He then completed his medical degree at the University of Cincinnati in 1995. Dr. Meighen holds board certifications in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine and has over 20 years of experience. He is well versed in the use of fluoroscopy and ultrasound to diagnose and treat spine, joint, and soft tissue problems via an interventional approach. His treatment plans primarily concentrate on conservative and non-operative measures to help the individual improve their function, pain control, mobility, and longevity. He uses evidence-based interventions to restore, regenerate, and rejuvenate the client allowing them to live a truly limitless life. He employs proactive approaches including fitness and strength training, mind-body techniques, hormone optimization, regenerative interventional orthopedic medicine (prolotherapy/platelet rich plasma/bone marrow), peptides, epigenetic testing, sexual health interventions, and aesthetic procedures to maximize health span and vitality.

His opinion is that medical management is a misnomer and even a deterrent as patients seek a solution to their health issues. The plan should focus on pain resolution employing all means necessary in a program tailored to the client’s specific needs and goals.

His journey and philosophies are captured in his #1 best-selling Amazon book called A New You; Using the Body’s Regenerative and Restorative Powers to Optimize Orthopedic, Hormonal, and Sexual Health Function. He has also authored a chapter in the compilation book The Codes of Longevity entitled Pain Resolution, Body Rejuvenation.
